While unconfirmed, Microsoft describes the game as " a new beginning for the legendary franchise," which implies it's not a continuation of the existing story. Gamers had been waiting for news of another addition to the series, but it seems as though the new Fable will be a reboot as opposed to a sequel. The Fable revival was first announced back in 2020 with a short teaser trailer which gave very little away. Playground Games is also working on another highly-anticipated title: Fable. The game has been developed with new-gen Xbox Series X/S consoles in mind, but will also apparently run on Xbox One consoles despite their age, allowing more players access to the game at launch.
